Walter of Clifford has made fine with the king by 400 m. for having the custody of the land and heirs of Henry le Fleming until the lawful age of the heirs, together with their marriage. He is to render 50 m. of which 400 m. to the king at Easter in the twentieth year, 50 m. at Michaelmas in the same year, and 100 m. thus from year to year at the same terms until the aforesaid 400 m. will have been paid to the king. Order to the king’s escheators to cause Walter to have full seisin without delay of all land with appurtenances formerly of Henry, which is in their custody, and of the aforesaid heirs .

Mosse , Mack’ and Jacob , sons of Vivon’ , Samson Blundel , Elias son of Vivon’ , Dyay son of Samson , Leo , Simon of Norwich , Isaac Parvus , Seignuret and Jacob son of Seignuret , Jews accused of circumcision, have made fine with the king by 300 m. for having his judgement concerning the circumcision of the son of Benedict, which is imputed to them according to the assize of the Jews of England, and by 50 m. which they give to the king so that they be handed over by bail up to the quindene of Hilary in the twentieth year.

15 Nov. Buckden. Worcestershire. Concerning the fine of Geoffrey son of Warin. Geoffrey son of Warin, who withdrew himself for the death of Reginald of Broadwas 1 in the eyre of the justices in Worcestershire , has made fine with the king by 200 m. so that he might return, that the king will remit to him that which pertains to him in this matter, that he might make peace with the parents of the dead man, and that he will stand to right for this against anyone who will wish to speak against him. He is to render the aforesaid fine at the below-written terms, namely 50 m. at Easter in the twentieth year, 50 m. at Michaelmas in the same year, 50 m. at Easter in the twenty-first year, and 50 m. at Michaelmas in the same year. Walter de Beauchamp and William de Albo Monasterio have mainperned for the same Geoffrey that he will find pledges for the aforesaid fine in Shropshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire . Order to the sheriff of Staffordshire and Shropshire to take pledges for rendering a moiety of the aforesaid fine at the aforesaid terms, and to the sheriff of Worcestershire to take security for rendering the other moiety at the same terms, and he is to cause the barons of the Exchequer to know the names of the pledges.

Alice, wife of Matthew of Shipley , has made fine with the king by 10 m., and Margaret, wife of Robert de Burton’ , by 8 m., so that their husbands and Matthew de Stordes, brother of Margaret, taken and detained in the king’s prison of the High Peak for forfeit of the king’s forest, may be handed over on bail until the coming of the king’s justices into those parts [to take] the pleas of the forest. Order to the constable of the High Peak that, having accepted security from Matthew of Shipley for rendering the aforesaid 10 m. to the king, and from the aforesaid Robert for 5 m., and from Matthew de Stordes for 3 m., he is to hand each of them over on bail to six trustworthy and law-worthy men of his bailiwick, who will mainpern to have them before the aforesaid justices to stand to right, as aforesaid, and he is to hand over by plevin two grooms taken with them similarly.

Concerning the fine of Baldwin de Friville made for Roger, his brother. Baldwin de Friville has made fine with the king by £100 so that Roger de Friville, his brother , who has been appealed for the death of Walter of Kelleythorpe and robbery, is handed over on bail to twelve trustworthy and law-worthy men after he has surrendered himself into the king’s prison, and so that the king remits his suit to him if peace can be made with the appellants, or that the king will give him licence to make concord with the appellants if they will wish, namely so that, unless peace can be made with the appellants, he is to stand to right for this in the king’s court. Baldwin is also to render the aforesaid £100 to the king at these terms, namely 50 m. in the octaves of Hilary in the twentieth year, 50 m. at Easter in 15 days in the same year, and 50 m. at Michaelmas in the same year. Order to the sheriff of Yorkshire that, having accepted security from Baldwin for rendering the aforesaid £100 to the king after the aforesaid Roger has surrendered himself into the king’s prison, then he is to hand him over on bail to twelve trustworthy and law-worthy men of his county, and to cause Roger to have full seisin without delay of his lands with his chattels in his bailiwick, which were taken into the king’s hand for this reason, and to cause the king to know the names of the aforesaid twelve .

The king has pardoned to his citizens of Hereford £96 3s. 3d. of the £196 3s. 3d. which they owed him, and he has granted them that they may render the remaining £100 at these terms, namely £20 at Hilary in the twentieth year, £10 at Easter next following in the same year, £10 at Michaelmas next following in the same year, and, afterwards, £20 from year to year at the same terms of Easter and Michaelmas until the aforesaid £100 are paid to the king. Order to William Peverel and Ralph de Satchville that, together with all monies which they received from the aid lately granted to the king, namely 2 m. per shield, in the county of Devon , which they had proposed to bring to the Exchequer in London , they are to divert to the king at Bristol, so that they are to be there on this forthcoming Sunday in the feast of St. Peter, or on the morrow, in order to deliver those monies into the king’s Wardrobe at the right time. When the king has established the sum of the same, he will cause them to have writs of acquittance for this. 1

To the sheriff of Gloucestershire . 1 Order to deliver the 31 tuns of wine that remained at Bristol of the wines lately taken there to the king’s use, which it was not expedient to be retained to the king’s use, to the king’s trustworthy men of Bristol, so that they will deliver twelve of the aforesaid tuns by their hands to Peter Clerk, James le Warre, Richard Aylard’ and William de Beaumont , burgesses of the same vill, who have purchased that wine , so that they answer the king at Christmas in the twenty-first year for 4 m. for each tun of wine, and eight tuns to Reymond Gregor’, Gilbert Matthew, William Bonfeser, William de Lanbeske and Peter de Lisle and other merchants of Gascony who are in the same vill, so that they answer for 4 m. at the same term for each of the aforesaid eight tuns. The same burgesses are to retain the remaining eleven tuns for rendering the same price to the king at the same term, so that after they have taken security both from the aforesaid four burgesses and the aforesaid merchants for rendering the monies pertaining to them, as aforesaid, they are to give surety to the sheriff for rendering all of the aforesaid price of the aforesaid 31 tuns to the king at the aforesaid term. The sheriff is similarly to answer the king at the same term for the five tuns of wine that he had of the king’s wines, namely 4 m. for each tun.
